What to Do When Your Co-Worker is a Loveable Narcissistic Attention-Whore Like “The Ron”?

Spending time with co-workers can be great — if they’re cool. If they’re not, it can be excruciating. But those are two extremes. Most co-workers fall somewhere in between. So let’s not talk about those on the negative extreme or even the folks that I could take-or-leave, because life’s too short.

I want to focus on the positive extreme: people at work who I really like and want to spend more time with. The number one personality trait that I require for friends at work or otherwise, is that they possess a sophisticated sense of humor…and by “sophisticated” I mean as wide as the Mississippi River. In other words, individuals who can find humor in almost any situation, don’t take themselves too seriously, but have the good sense to know when sh*t is real and to stop joking around when it’s inappropriate.

I’ve met a lot of wonderful people over the course of my 20+ year career in Silicon Valley. (I’ve met a lot of awful ones too, but I refuse to talk about them now as much as you want me to…No, I won’t, please stop asking!)
